On 10 August, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius received the outgoing Ambassador of the Netherlands to Lithuania Gijsbert Hendrik Christiaan van der Lingen. At the meeting, the Foreign Minister welcomed Lithuania's continuously expanding relations with the Netherlands, the close cooperation and highest political level contacts – the visit of the Dutch royal family to Lithuania on 13-15 June of this year.

On 2 August, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius and the United States Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs A. Wess Mitchell discussed strategic security cooperation between Lithuania and the U.S. The U.S. representative reaffirmed that the country's policy towards Russia and close cooperation with the Baltic states remained unchanged.

Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis participated in the time capsule-laying ceremony of the construction of the company Vakarų medienos grupė in Akmenė.

On 20 July, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Albinas Zananavičius is participating in the General Affairs Council (Article 50) in Brussels. The Council discussed issues dealing with Brexit and how the policy paper published by the UK government on 12 July 2018 could feed into the discussions. The EU's chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier briefed the ministers on the state of play in the Brexit negotiations and where the negotiations stand regarding the work to finalise the withdrawal agreement, including the backstop solution for the border between Ireland and Northern Ireland. M. Barnier also presented the recent Commission communication on preparedness.

German Armed Forces Tank Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Rene Braun will be in command of the NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battalion Battle Group in Lithuania. He replaced Lieutenant Colonel Wolf Rüdiger Otto, who was in in command of the NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battalion Battle Group in Lithuania for last six months.

"We greatly appreciate the contribution and support Portugal delivers to strengthen the eastern borders of NATO, security of the Baltic region and Lithuania in the face of increasing tensions after Russia's aggression against Ukraine," the Lithuanian Minister of National Defence Raimundas Karoblis said on July 30 in the Air Base of the Lithuanian Air Face in Šiauliai, where he met with the Portuguese Defence Minister José Azeredo Lopes.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius, together with the Ministers of Spain, Poland, Romania and Hungary, signed a joint letter to the European Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmström, calling for an extension of anti-dumping duties imposed on imports of ammonium nitrate fertilizers from Russia.

Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis has met with the delegation of the US Congress to discuss the US-Lithuanian relations and the security challenges in the region.

On 2 August, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius met with the United States congressional, which was headed by Hal Rogers, Chairman of the State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Subcommittee of the United States House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations. The meeting focused on the Lithuania-U.S. cooperation in response to Russian threat, sanctions, energy security, and support for the spread of democracy.

On August 2 the change of command ceremony of the NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battle Group in Lithuania will be held in Rukla. Lieutenant Colonel Wolf Rüdiger Otto, who has been in command of NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battle Group for six months, will be replaced by the new rotation Commander Lieutenant Colonel Rene Braun. The ceremony will be attended by Vice Minister of National Defence of Lithuania Vytautas Umbrasas, Commander of the Lithuanian Land Force Brigadier General Valdemaras Rupšys, other military officials, representatives from local authorities.
