The Prime Minister has stressed that Lithuania is highly interested in its export growth in the UAE and that export volumes have been expanding constantly. The Head of Government has presented development opportunities in the Seaport of Klaipėda and has noted the importance of investment.
‘I believe that we could become a gateway to the European market for the UAE companies implementing projects in the fields of FinTech, logistics, communication and information technologies, electronics, engineering, industrial production and biotechnology’, said the Head of Government.
Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansoori has seconded the Prime Minister’s idea that a direct regular connection between Lithuania and the UAE is necessary. He has promised to find possibility for the UAE airlines to establish regular connections Vilnius-Abu Dhabi and Vilnius-Dubai by the end of this year already. It has been agreed that important matters related to transport and communications will be further coordinated in special meetings.
With a view to more active cooperation, a joint Lithuania-UAE economy committee is planned to be set up to discuss concrete investment projects.
Considering the dynamics of ties with the UAE, an embassy of Lithuania to the UAE is planned to open up in the near future. ‘I sincerely invite the UAE to open up an embassy in Lithuania. It would further strengthen the development of our bilateral ties in the fields of economy, trade and culture’, said the Prime Minister.
The UAE Minister of Economy has agreed to the idea to establish an embassy in Lithuania and has invited the Prime Minister to pay an official visit to the UAE.
The UAE is clearly among the key trade partners in the Arab world. More and more Lithuanian products find their place on the UAE’s market. In 2017, Lithuania’s export to the UAE grew 73 per cent and trade turnover between Lithuania and the UAE exceeded EUR 136 million.
