‘This is a general political agreement between the European Union and New Zeeland. It defines more intensive relations between the two parties to make them more effective. The Agreement also defines areas stretching from human rights to culture, labour, disaster management, marine issues, transport and legal cooperation. The Agreement is the expression of political will demonstrating that New Zeeland is the EU’s extraordinary partner’, said Linas Antanas Linkevičius, Minister of Foreign Affairs, as he presented the draft.
The Law on the Ratification of the Partnership Agreement on Relations and Cooperation between the European Union and its Member States and New Zeeland (draft No. XIIIP-1557(2)) was unanimously adopted by 83 votes in favour.
