On 19 June, Linas Linkevičius, Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with foreign ministers of the Nordic, Baltic and Visegrad countries in Stockholm (Sweden). President Dalia Grybauskaitė met with the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins, who arrived on an official visit to Lithuania. The meeting focused on bilateral relations between Lithuania and Ireland, cooperation within the European Union and security issues. Central and Eastern European countries belonging to the European Union at a meeting in Hungary discussed the future of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and the situation of the agricultural markets. “The most essential goal of the upcoming NATO Summit is to make the strong transatlantic allied solidarity as apparent to the world as possible,” Minister of National Defence Raimundas Karoblis said on June 13 at a conference in Washington, US. According to Minister, the success of the NATO Summit will depend not only on what will be laid down in the documents but also on the message the allied leaders will send out. Resolution adopted by the Seimas to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Lithuanian Freedom League2018-06-15, 18:41While noting that 15 June 2018 marks the 40th anniversary of establishment of the Lithuanian Freedom League, the Seimas expressed its utmost respect for this resistance organisation of national revival and called for an extensive study into the activities of the Lithuanian Freedom League and for using its results for educational purposes. The Lithuanian Parliament appreciates the uncompromising fight of the Lithuanian Freedom League for the restoration of Lithuania’s independence.
