The meeting addressed security and measures to strengthen defence capabilities of the Nordic-Baltic region, and joint Nordic-Baltic and U.S. initiatives in defence area.
Vice Minister of National Defence V. Umbrasas presented to the participants Lithuania’s counter-propaganda experience and increasing public resilience to information threats.
According to Vice Minister, there is no quick solution to hostile propaganda issue. “Not only a long-term strategy but also close cooperation in the region, in NATO, and in the EU, is needed in order to improve the situation in this area,” V.Umbrasas said.
The U.S. and Nordic-Baltic representatives also focused on regional airspace and maritime surveillance, discussed further actions and measures in developing measures and capabilities. Vice Minister V.Umbrasas underscored the importance of air defence to the Baltic region and Lithuania’s efforts to strengthen air defence capabilities – ongoing short and mid-range ground-based air defence system procurement projects.
