On Thursday, President Gitanas Nausėda of Lithuania had telephone conversations with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey and President Barham Salih of Iraq to discuss the problems posed by illegal migration on the Lithuania’s border with Belarus.

On Monday, President Gitanas Nausėda had a telephone conversation with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg to discuss the latest situation and possible Alliance’s actions to counter the hybrid attack of illegal migration on the Eastern border of NATO. It has been agreed that the Belarus regime has engaged in hybrid attack against Lithuania by organizing the flow of irregular migrants across the border with Lithuania.

President Gitanas Nausėda of Lithuania and President Andrzej Duda of Poland had a telephone conversation to discuss the latest situation on the Lithuania-Belarus border.

On July 29, Minister of Foreign Affairs Gabrielius Landsbergis met with Ambassador Abdul Kareem Toma Mehdi Kaab, Director of the European Department of the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who is also the head of the delegation visiting Lithuania on July 28-31.

The Commission continues to provide further financial support to six Member States through the Mobility Package of the Emergency Support Instrument amounting to over €14 million, for the transport of COVID-19 vaccination-related equipment and COVID-19 therapeutics. This comes on top of the €150 million already made available for the transport of essential medical items since last year.

The European Commission has approved, under EU State aid rules, a French aid scheme to support renewable electricity production. The measure will help France achieve its renewable energy targets without unduly distorting competition and will contribute to the European objective of achieving climate neutrality by 2050.
