According to the President, economic relations between Lithuania and Azerbaijan have great potential and Lithuania is interested in developing cooperation in high-tech innovation and education.
During the meeting, the President emphasized that Lithuania actively supported the EU’s Eastern Partnership policy and Azerbaijan’s participation in it, including the signing of the EU-Azerbaijan agreement. The Eastern Partnership Summit held in Brussels in December, Gitanas Nausėda said, provided great impetus for further cooperation as all countries signed a joint declaration expressing a political ambition as well as the EU’s and Eastern Partnership countries’ aim to strengthen their strategic partnership.
The President and the Speaker of the Parliament also discussed the security situation in the Caucasus region.
