Rent prices in Lithuania's capital Vilnius have increased by about 5% this summer, as compared with the summer of 2015 – the fact has been admitted by real estate agents, saying that the price increase has not slowed down the market but, quite the opposite, provides better opportunities for owners of popular homes.

The results from the first stage of general admissions to Lithuanian universities and colleges came this week: although the total number of applicants is declining in Lithuania, Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) was chosen by more future-to-be students than last year. Also, the KTU’s study programme Software Systems was the most popular study choice this year – 403 future programmers are invited to start studying at KTU in September.

VGTU Lyceum of Engineering is the first of it’s kind in the capital of Lithuania. By the decision of Vilnius City Council Vilnius Lyceum of Engineering is given the name of Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU) from September 1st, 2016.

The last 5 weeks will be long remembered by the students from sunny California. Not only because of heavy rains, first time in Europe, and colorful leisure, but mainly because of the overall VGTU-CalPoly‘2016 summer school experience. The engineering summer school is organized together with California Polytechnic State University (CalPoly) for four years already. This year VGTU-CalPoly had a new leader – dr. Graham Archer, who was delivering structural mechanics and mathematical modeling seminars at the summer school. We were curious, what memories is the professor bringing home from Vilnius.

In the near future one of the buildings housing the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEF) at Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) shall be turned into a modern laboratory of renewable energy sources. The roof of the building located at the KTU campus is about to be fitted with 1,520 units of photovoltaic modules while the modern underground geothermic energy system will be used for fulfilling the building’s heating requirements.

“There is no one way: we have extraverted entrepreneurs, introverted entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs with bunch of different personality traits. Entrepreneurship is about creating opportunities, and you can learn to do that”, says Becky Reuber, professor from Toronto University (Canada) who delivered a seminar for researchers at Kaunas University of Technology School of Economics and Business earlier this year.
