EducationAt the beginning of this year, Lithuania became an Associate Member State of the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN). In Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU) on April 23rd began 10th International Staff Week. This International Staff Week was the first one which attracted 28 participants from 21 countries, 17 of them are non EU countries like Chile, Brazil, Peru, South Africa, Indonesia, Malaysia, Morocco, Albania, Iran, India, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Egypt, Serbia. July 16th-21st, 2018, the 4th Science & Art of Communication Summer School will be held at Mykolas Romeris University (MRU). Europe needs universities that dare to truly and continuously innovate education and maximise their societal impact. European Universities Networks offer an important opportunity to catalyse educational innovations, such as student-centred learning, flexible education and European curricula. The European Consortium of Innovative Universities (ECIU) supports the development of ambitious European Universities Networks by sharing ten criteria, including five ideas for activities to be funded. Vilnius University students win Bronze in International Collegiate Programming Contest2018-04-30, 16:29For the first time in history, student team of Vilnius University (VU) Faculty of Mathermatics and Informatics won 12th place among 140 student teams from all over the world in International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) 2018 in Beijing, China, and was awarded with Bronze medals. An intern at VMU interviewed a number of international full-time students and asked them to explain the reasons for choosing studies at Vytautas Magnus University. This series of articles, “Why VMU?”, presents their thoughts. Vytautas Magnus University welcome PhD, Master’s and Bachelor’s students from all universities, scientific fields and disciplines to share their research findings, ideas and experience with colleagues and society (the conference will take place in non-traditional space – Students’ Square). Earlier this month Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) organised meetings of representatives of European Consortium of Innovative Universities (ECIU) in Vilnius and Kaunas. The members of the Board, Vice-Rectors for Research and Innovation, leaders of PhD schools and other representatives of innovative universities from 12 European countries and Mexico were discussing the issues of one European Diploma and university networking. This was the first ECIU meeting of this scale in Lithuania. Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) student Aysenur Ozcan from Turkey has lots of plans, but for now is immersed in Bachelor's Degree Psychology studies. Education Exchanges Support Foundation is announcing the competition for State-funded scholarships for full-time master’s studies in Lithuanian universities. The length of the scholarship is up to two years, and the deadline for application is next Monday, 2 May. |
