25–29 June Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture hosted an international summer school for students of architecture and heritage protection and professionals of these fields. During the week in Kaunas, the participants got familiar with the city’s landmark architecture and solved practical tasks, connected to Kaunas urban development.

The team of researchers at Kaunas University of Technology, Lithuania are developing mathematical methods which could help diagnose breast cancer. Applying deep learning method, the researchers are aiming to “teach” computer to recognise malignant lesions, which would allow at least partially automatize and enhance the accuracy of diagnosing breast cancer.

For a second year in a row, Vytautas Magnus University is cooperating with UAB Intermedix Lietuva to offer seven one-time scholarships of 200 EUR to third/fourth year BA or first/second year MA students with higher academic achievements (grade average for the previous semester must be 9 or higher) and strong involvement in social and public activities within the university and beyond.

Until the 31st of May you can apply for becoming a peer mentor for the new students, coming to KTU is September. Although it is commonly assumed that mentee is the one who benefits most, actually being a mentor is very rewarding experience in many ways.

On 26 May, all drone fans, enthusiasts, and professionals are invited to the first Drone festival in Lithuania. The event is held at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University’s Flight Training Unit (Kyviškės Airfield). The event is free of charge.

On 7-9 May 2018 Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU) organised 3rd HR4ASIA Training Workshop „Retention and performance management“ aimed at building general understanding and developing practical skills and abilities of employee retention and performance management at HEIs from Cambodia, Lao PDR, Vietnam and Thailand.

Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) drone racing team has debuted in the international competition in Gdynia, Poland last weekend. KTU team, which is the only academic drone racing team in the country, was also the only Lithuanian team participating in the race.

“Science is never boring, you just need to find a field, which interests you”, says Julija Kravčenko, studying Biomedical Electronics at Kaunas University of Technology (KTU). Only in her second year, she has already experienced conducting scientific research, creating innovative products and participating in international training. Just recently Julija has passed the national selection for the internship at NASA Ames Research Center, and is waiting for the final confirmation of the internship.

On 11 May, Vytautas Magnus University was visited by a delegation from Kazakhstan: representatives of the Center for International Programs (CIP) and the Embassy of Kazakhstan to Lithuania, who discussed possibilities for cooperation.
