Over the next couple of years, 240 new jobs are planned in engineering, applied mathematics, economics, finance, management, IT and other areas, agency Invest Lithuania informs. His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the Nobel Peace prize laureate, is due to deliver an open lecture at Vilnius University in June. The team of Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) students are participating in the international engineering competition BRICO2018 in Estonia, where they are introducing an innovative steel bridge designed and built entirely by themselves. The competition takes place in 14–18 May. The Center for Excellence in Finance and Economic Research (CEFER) jointly with Vilnius University has developed a brand-new Bachelor program Quantitative Economics. This program will develop graduates capable of successfully navigating within the modern finance industry as well as public institutions and private companies requiring competence in economics and data science; the language of instruction is English and the program only last for three years instead of the standard four years. This is the first and so far the only program of this kind in Lithuania. “My country in Georgian is called Sakartvelo, that’s what it is now called in Lithuanian also”, reminds Avtandil Arabuli from Georgia in the beginning of the conversation. Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) is the university most valued by students, and its graduates are among the most sought after in the job market, according to the national rankings announced by the magazine “Reitingai” today. KTU has strengthened its positions in 4 of the 7 categories assessed in the annual rankings and is the second best university in Lithuania. Competition has opened for Erasmus+ teaching visits during 2019 autumn semester. The realisation period for the visits is from August 27th , 2018 until January 31st, 2019. The aim of the teaching visit is to read lectures to students of a foreign university and encourage them to come to VMU for Erasmus+ studies.
