The new international university ranking list “QS World University Rankings 2019” was announced on late Wednesday night. The results revealed that universities from the Lithuanian capital Vilnius showed the best results.

At the moment, Vilnius University (VU) offers 47 study programmes and over 600 courses in English. This number increases every year, therefore more and more foreign students decide to study at VU. Craig Thomson, a student at VU Institute of International Relations and Political Science (VU IIRPS), says foreign students feel welcome in the university and rarely encounter any major problems.

Latvian, Estonian, and Lithuanian universities have officially established a CERN Baltic group to collaborate with the European Center for Nuclear Research (CERN). Major universities of the Baltic States signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Wednesday, May 29 in CERN headquarters in Geneva.

Vilnius University (VU) professor Virginijus Šikšnys was awarded with the prestigious Kavli prize for his discovery of the CRISPR-Cas9, a revolutionary tool for DNA editing. The prize, which includes 1 million dollars, is rewarded every two years.

June 21st-28th, 2018, graduation ceremonies will be held at Mykolas Romeris University (MRU).

This year’s KTU graduates, their relatives and members of the academic community are kindly invited to participate in the Graduation Ceremony for the graduates of the year 2018. The graduation ceremony will take place in Kaunas Žalgiris Arena on Tuesday, 22 June at 12pm.

Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU) expands its rich network of partners outside the EU. On 25 May, VGTU signed a partnership agreement with a well-regarded Deakin University (Australia). In 2018 this university was ranked at the 298th place on the QS World University Rankings.

From May 22 to 23 Pieter Vanhuysse, Professor of Welfare Studies and public policy at the Department of Political Science and Public Management of the University of Southern Denmark has visited Faculty of Philosophy of Vilnius University. Here he gave a public lecture “Pro-Elderly Welfare States in a Child-Oriented Europe” .
