SocietyLithuania's Small Planet Airlines to invest record profits in passenger experience improvement2015-09-13, 13:52During the first half of 2015, the charter flight carrier Small Planet Airlines, a Lithuanian leisure airline based at Vilnius Airport, earned EUR 64.3 million and improved its financial performance by a whopping 25.3%. Meanwhile, the company's profits doubled from EUR 2 to EUR 4 million. Kaunas Airport is changing rapidly, with a progressive future vision. The creation of Lithuanian Airports last year, following the merger into one entity of Vilnius, Palanga, and Kaunas airports, has established a clear strategic direction. This sees Kaunas Airport become the base for aviation-related businesses through implementation of the AEROHUB KUN investment project. Based on preliminary information, nearly 1,500 demonstrators have joined the rally organised by trade unions outside the Lithuanian Parliament. This is the biggest rally since 2008. President Dalia Grybauskaitė together with Archbishop of Vilnius Gintaras Grušas visited St. Peter and St. Paul's Church parish house where they met with a refugee family from Iraq living there and volunteers who take care of them. Two months ago, three Iraqi Christian families – a total of 15 people – were resettled to Lithuania because of religious persecution. From year to year the number of companies that have moved from the CIS countries to Lithuania is increasing. Although Lithuania's real estate market in August 2015 was less active than in June and July 2015, yet it was more active compared to August 2014. Full length train Viking, carrying 72 containers, has arrived in Ukraine's capital Kyiv from Lithuania's port city of Klaipeda on September 4th.
