Keepers of vehicles registered in Lithuania now can carry out mandatory roadworthiness tests in Germany and apply to 235 accredited inspection bodies in Bavaria, Baden-Wurttemberg, Hesse, Thuringia, Schleswig-Holstein federal states as well Zarlando, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania regions and cities of Hamburg and Niedersachsen.

More and more foreign passengers choose Vilnius not only as a great holiday destination but also as a first trip stop. Vilnius is increasingly popular among Lithuanian neighbours.

Statistics Lithuania informs that in July 2015, compared to June, construction input prices decreased by 0.4%. The change was mainly influenced by a 0.8% decrease in wages and salaries. Over the year (July 2015, against July 2014), construction input prices increased by 2.3%.

In the first half of 2015, the Litgrid Group's profit before tax was EUR 2.8 million compared to EUR 2.7 million losses in the corresponding period of 2014. The results were mainly determined by 26% decrease in costs, Lithuanian electricity transmission system operator Litgrid said in a statement.

Statistics Lithuania informs that, based on provisional data, in July 2015, the turnover (VAT excluded) of enterprises engaged in wholesale and retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles amounted to EUR 207.2 million and, against June 2015, decreased by 2.2% at constant prices.

SAS is opening three new routes to USA in 2016. The new routes being launched are Los Angeles from Stockholm, Miami from Oslo and Miami from Copenhagen. SAS is also increasing the number of departures from Stockholm to New York and Chicago and between Copenhagen and Shanghai. That means that SAS will now offer over 330,000 additional seats on its intercontinental routes in 2016.

On 27 August, a train from Poland arrived in Kaunas on the new Rail Baltica track with Catherine Trautmann, the European Coordinator for the North Sea-Baltic core network corridor, of which Rail Baltica railway line is a part, aboard. A train from Poland with passengers aboard last arrived in Lithuania in August 1939.

On August 27 air contingent of the Italian Air Forces will conclude their duty on the NATO Baltic Air Policing Mission that it was carrying out from the Šiauliai Air Base in Lithuania. Italian soldiers were guarding the airspace of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia for two consecutive rotations, the total of 8 months, with four Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets. The Italian air contingent will be farewelled at a ceremony at the Šiauliai Air Base on August 27.

Energy experts say that the model applied to consumers by state enterprise Lietuvos Duju Tiekimas for recovery of overpayments for gas, which accumulated from January 2013 through April 2014, is faulty. Energy experts arrived to the conclusion after calculating that Lietuvos Duju Tiekimas, company engaged in gas import and sales, returned in January-July 2015 only EUR 2.5 million of the EUR 34 million of overpayments.
