The number of tourists from the EU countries totalled 311.8 thousand (by 13.4% more than in the same quarter of 2014), from non-EU countries – 184.8 thousand (by 6.5% less). The number of Lithuania's residents accommodated grew by 10.2% and totalled 398 thousand.
The majority of foreign tourists were from Germany – 84.4 thousand (in III quarter 2014, 77.9 thousand), Belarus – 48.2 thousand (in III quarter 2014, 54.3 thousand), Russia – 46.9 thousand (in III quarter 2014, 64.8 thousand), Poland – 44.5 thousand (in III quarter 2014, 41.3 thousand), Latvia – 37.8 thousand (in III quarter 2014, 33.1 thousand), Estonia – 19.9 thousand (in III quarter 2014, 16.8 thousand), Italy – 17.7 thousand (in III quarter 2014, 15.1 thousand), the United Kingdom – 17.6 thousand (in III quarter 2014, 16.2 thousand), and Ukraine – 14.8 thousand (in III quarter 2014, 13.7 thousand). More than half of foreign tourists – 54.1% – stayed in Vilnius.
Almost a third of tourists (28.5%) stayed in the accommodation establishments of resort towns: Palanga – 119.6 thousand (by 11.2% more than in III quarter 2014), Druskininkai – 80.7 thousand (by 6% more), Neringa – 37.9 thousand (by 3.8% more), Birštonas – 17 thousand (by 34.3% more).
In January–September 2015, accommodation establishments received almost 2 million tourists, or by 6% more than in the same period of 2014; the number of foreigners amounted to almost 1.1 million (by 2.4% more).
In III quarter 2015, compared to same quarter of 2014, Lithuanian hotels and motels accommodated by 5.1% more tourists; the number of foreign tourists accommodated increased by 3.8%. The number of rooms in hotels and motels totalled 13.5 thousand (in III quarter 2014, 13.5 thousand), that of beds – 27.6 thousand (in III quarter 2014, 27.8 thousand). The hotel and motel room occupancy rate stood at 61.3% (in III quarter 2014, 59.9%), the bed occupancy rate – 48.6% (in III quarter 2014, 47.6%).
In III quarter 2015, Vilnius hotels and motels accommodated 280.5 thousand tourists, which is by 7.1% more than in the same quarter of 2014; the number of foreign tourists amounted to 240.8 thousand, or by 6.6% more.
Over January–September 2015, hotels and motels received 1.5 million tourists, or by 4.8% more than in the same period of 2014; the number of foreigners amounted to 935 thousand (by 1.4% more).
