Following the Vilnius Summit, President Dalia Grybauskaitė met with opposition and civil society representatives from the six Eastern Partnership countries - Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.

President Dalia Grybauskaitė together with the leaders of the EU and Eastern Partnership countries issued a declaration specifying the progress achieved in the past two years and setting further guidelines for the programme.

At the beginning of the Vilnius Summit, President Dalia Grybauskaitė participated in a coordination meeting with European Council President Herman Van Rompuy, European Commission President José Manuel Barroso, European Commission Vice-President Catherine Ashton and Commissioner for Enlargement Štefan Füle to discuss the common EU position on the prospects of the Eastern Partnership programme and the situation in Ukraine.

Chairpersons, parliamentarians and leaders of business and civil society of the Eastern Partnership will meet on 27-29 November in Vilnius for the events organised by the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Tomorrow, 28 November, at 14:30 hours, President Dalia Grybauskaitė will present the Grand Cross of the Order of Vytautas the Great to the Prime Minister of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Jean-Claude Juncker.

On 28-29 November, President Dalia Grybauskaitė will welcome high-ranking leaders of the European Union and Eastern Partnership countries in Vilnius. The heads of state or government of the 28 EU member states as well as Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine will gather for the Vilnius Summit. During the two-day event, they will review progress in implementing the Eastern Partnership programme and outline guidelines for the future.

Attacks on EAPL from the nationalist forces have intensified during last weeks, as they still cannot get over the growing strength and position of the Polish party. This time the leadership of the Conservative Party did not like the direction of unification of all the national minorities in Lithuania under the EAPL flag.

Human rights and the EU's budget for the next seven years took centre stage in Parliament this November plenary week in Strasbourg. On Wednesday president Martin Schulz presented Malala Yousafzaï with the 25th annual Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought in the presence of past Sakharov laureates. The 2014-2020 budget received the Parliament's backing after arduous negotiations with member states, while MEPs also demanded the right to decide for themselves where Parliament should sit.
