On 30 January, the head of the Lithuanian diplomacy took part in the annual convention of Latvian Ambassadors in Riga and shared the experience of Lithuania's Presidency of the EU Council, dedicating significant attention to the Eastern Partnership.

Photo: Toms Kalniņš/ Press Service of the President of Latvia.L.Linkevičius met with the President of Latvia Andris Bērziņš and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Edgars Rinkēvičs. The meetings discussed major infrastructure projects, highlighted the importance of the "Rail Baltica" project connecting the capitals of the Baltic States. Due consideration was given to the project's economic viability and the significance of an appropriate EU funding.
The Lithuanian Foreign Minister also held a meeting with the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton. During the meeting they discussed the importance of the European Neighbourhood Policy and exchanged views on key international policy issues.
While in Riga, L.Linkevičius paid tribute to the victims who died in trade centre collapse last November. The Lithuanian Foreign Minister laid flowers and lit candles at the site of the tragedy.
