Aim of the event is the mutual exchange of experiences and deepening of programming skills. Curated by Intermedix Lithuania programmers the Global Day of Coderetreat took place at Kaunas University of Technology's (KTU) StartupSpace last Saturday. On 17 November in Kyiv, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius and the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Sweden Margot Wallström signed a Memorandum of Understanding to support educational institutions in eastern Ukraine. The document provides for an exchange of students, teacher training and improving the conditions of learning in schools in eastern Ukraine. Harmonised EU entry and residence rules that will make it easier and more attractive for students and researchers from third countries to study or do research at EU universities were informally agreed by MEPs and ministers on Tuesday. The deal also has provisions to clarify and improve conditions for non-EU interns, volunteers, school pupils and au pairs, so as to facilitate cultural exchanges. These rules still need to be approved by Parliament as a whole and the Council of Ministers. In response to the terrorist attacks in Paris, VMU research cluster "International Relations and Security Processes: Lithuania in Global Arena" is organizing a discussion entitled "Terrorist Attacks in Paris: What Do They Mean for Europe?" on Thursday 19 November, 11.15 a.m., at the Faculty of Political Science and Diplomacy (Gedimino g. 44, Room 203). The Baltic Institute at the German University of Greifswald will be saved, Germany's Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier says.
