2015 year is special for the Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences (LEU). The largest Lithuanian University that educates teachers celebrates 80th Anniversary this year. LEU has been counting its years since the Government of the Republic of Lithuania established the first pedagogical school of higher education – a two-year pedagogical institute of the Republic in Klaipėda. Its maintask was to prepare teachers for the reformed primary school and develop pedagogical sciences in Lithuania.

According to the rankings of the world universities by subject in October, based on the performance of scientific papers, Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU) is on the 237th place in Civil Engineering, being the only university from the Baltic countries in National Taiwan University Ranking (NTU).

QS World University Rankings has published a list of the best universities in the region of Emerging Europe and Central Asia.

In early October 2015, the General Assembly of CESAER (Conference of European Schools for Advanced Engineering Education and Research) elected new Board of Directors for 4 years period, and Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) became part of the main administration body of the association. The decision of CESAER members was based on KTU's active membership and advanced achievements in advanced engineering education and research.

On the 14th of October, the selection for Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) Mentorship programme has come to an end and the lucky students, who now will have their own personal adviser (a career mentor), are revealed. Out of all the participants, students who are the most motivated and are seeking to improve were selected for this programme.

Enterprise Lithuania and SwedenBIO, the Swedish Life Science Industry Organization, announced about the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Nordic Life Sciences Days meeting in Stockholm to facilitate collaboration between both organizations and the countries' life science research centres and industries.

On 15 October, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Raimundas Karoblis, who is visiting Japan, discussed key issues of bilateral and international cooperation with Japan's Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Miki Yamada.

In October, Carmen Caro Dugo, associate professor, translator of the Department of Roman Languages of the VU Institute of Foreign Languages was awarded the Cross of the Order of Isabella the Catholic. The associate professor was awarded for the meaningful work and significant contribution to a deeper cognition of Spanish and Lithuanian cultures, for the complex translation of the Lithuanian epic poem Seasons (Metai) into the Spanish language. Seasons (Metai) is a canonic masterpiece of early Lithuanian literature, written in hexameters by Kristijonas Donelaitis.
