Nowadays, we are surrounded by smart technologies. Previously, we had to screw the light bulb in order to have the light, but now we have to confront complex semiconductor light sources. We may connect them to other devices – smartphones, smart homes. Such lighting may react to natural conditions, to the time of day, we can allow it to regulate our biological clock.
Hence, during the biological prime-time of the day we need a lot of light. We are accustomed that we use a lot of artificial light during the winters of our latitudes. In the mornings the light helps to wake up, while the human capacity to work usually decreases in the evening due to the surrounding darkness. This is why the warm floor light leads us smoothly into the night rest.
Today the so-called semiconductor lighting, LED technologies, are leading. It is an absolute street lighting technology leader – it produces light with least energy consumption. LEDs enable operation of smart lighting systems - and thereby lead to smart cities.
