The Government of Lithuania approved of the proposal made by the Ministry of Environment by which the control and the planning of the activities of the waste incineration power plants were to be in the hands of the state.

Retail trade company Rimi Baltic turned over EUR 322 million in the fourth quarter of 2013, a 5.2% increase on the respective period in 2012, according to an announcement by Rimi Baltic parent company ICA Gruppen.

Statistics Lithuania informs that in IV quarter 2013, the volume of construction work carried out amounted to LTL 2.5 billion, or by 15.8% more than in IV quarter 2012. The construction work carried out within the country accounted for 95% (LTL 2.3 billion) of the total construction work, outside the country – 5% (LTL 130 million).

The recorded net portfolio investment outflows of Lithuania amounted to respectively 603.9 million litas and 5.1 billion litas in December and January–December 2013, the Bank of Lithuania's Statistics Department said in a statement.

As a response to the plans of the Government to impose tax on cars, Vilnius City Mayor Arturas Zuokas proposes to use the collected funds for improvement of transport infrastructure in municipalities: to install parking places by residential houses, to repair yards, to develop environmentally-friendly transport, public transport.

Lithuania's business is ready to enter China's market in 2014. One-fifth of the major producers are planning the active development in China, while, in food industry sector, 43% of the companies have such plans.

On Monday, LITGAS, Ltd. was approved as a designated supplier which will have to ensure the efficient operation of an alternative gas supply source – the LNG terminal, the Ministry of Energy.
