On May 9–15 Lithuania is for the 10th time taking part in NATO’s NATO Crisis Management Exercise 2019 (CMX19). The exercise is designed to test in practice methods of the Alliance’s consultations, decision-making and crises response measures at political and strategic levels. On Europe Day, European leaders held the first debate on the EU’s next strategic agenda for the period 2019-2024 at their meeting in Sibiu, Romania, which currently holds the Presidency of the Council. Twenty seven heads of state or government also adopted a joint political declaration highlighting the importance of unity ahead of the European Parliament elections. On 6 May, the Ambassador of Lithuania Julius Pranevičius presented his letters of credence to the President of Sri Lanka Maithripala Sirisena.
