MEPs meet in committee this week to assess the progress made on tackling the Ebola outbreak in West Africa, vote on the association agreement with Georgia and discuss the European Central Bank's monetary policy with its president Mario Draghi. On Monday the Parliament and Council representatives resume talks on the EU budgets for this year and next year. In addition political groups prepare for next week´s plenary session.

President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaite is among those who approve the idea of holding a referendum on dual citizenship. However, the head of state emphasises that adequate preparation is needed in order to avoid any sort of manipulation before the referendum may take place.

The European Parliament gave its consent to the EU-Moldova Association agreement, which includes a Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA), on Thursday in Brussels. The deal will form the backbone of strengthened political association and economic integration between the EU and Moldova and provide for mutual free market access.

On 28th October teachers organized a picketing in order to remind the Government about their problems, expectations, and unrealized promises given to them. However, to their surprise they heard that they earn enough, others receive even less.

President Dalia Grybauskaitė met with the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Joachim Gauck. Taking part in the meeting on the eve of the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall were also Latvian President Andris Bērziņš and Estonian President Toomas Hendrik Ilves. The presidents discussed the security situation in the region and ways to counter newly emerging threats.
