President Dalia Grybauskaitė will travel to Brussels to attend a European Council meeting taking place on December 18-19.

Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius takes part at the Third Meeting of Heads of Government of China and Central and Eastern European countries (China+16) in Belgrade (Serbia). In his address at the opening of the session, the Prime Minister stressed the benefit of the forum for the participating countries.

The Lithuanian Government has approved amendments to rules for the development and implementation of public private partnership projects (PPPs).

MEPs will elect on Tuesday 16 December the new European ombudsman, whose task is to investigate complaints about maladministration by EU institutions. The only candidate for the post is the existing ombudsman, Emily O'Reilly from Ireland.

During its plenary sitting, the Seimas adopted a resolution (draft No XIIP-2477(2)), providing for the legal status in international operations in 2015–2016 of the military units of the Republic of Lithuania assigned to the NATO Response Force and EU Battlegroups and Lithuanian troops serving in NATO and EU military commands. The resolution was adopted by 83 votes in favour, with no votes against and one abstention.

On Thursday, the Seimas in Lithuania revoted on the state and municipal budgets for 2015 and finally adopted them.

Member of the European Parliament Petras Austrevicius has become Chairman of the Informal Group of Friends of European Ukraine which was founded in the European Parliament (EP).

In response to the letter of the Chairwoman of the EAPL Seimas faction Rita Tamašunienė, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), observing electoral processes in OSCE participating states, expressed its support for the electoral demands of national minorities residing in Lithuania.

On Tuesday, on 9 December, Lithuanian Minister of Energy Rokas Masiulis participated at the Energy Council meeting in Brussels. The minister emphasised that closer regional cooperation would accelerate the creation of a liberal and effective regional electricity and gas market and safeguard the security of energy supply.

Lithuanian Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius thinks that the Seimas will continue investigating if CIA prisons really existed in Lithuania but he also hopes that the story does not harm Lithuania's relations with the United States.
