The MPs decided to allocate nearly LTL 90 million (EUR 26 million) to wages of cultural workers, non-formal education and the agricultural sector. The funds will be taken from the public debt servicing costs managed by the Finance Ministry and other allocations which had been originally planned for the Finance Ministry, also, the additional funds will be received from growing revenue from excise duties.
A total of 79 MPs were in favour of the draft budget, 12 voted against with 34 abstentions.
As reported, the budget was returned to the Seimas due to procedural breaches that occurred during its adoption.
On 4 December, the Seimas adopted the draft state and municipal budgets for 2015 which were revised by the Government. The MPs decided to give additional funding to wages of cultural workers, non-formal education and the agricultural sector; however, they did not proportionately reduce allocations to other areas.
