President Dalia Grybauskaitė met with Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili, who came to Lithuania on an official visit. This is one of the first foreign trips made by the newly elected President of Gerogia.

As part of his visit to Dublin, Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis had a meeting with the Lithuanian community in Ireland and the leaders of the Lithuanian organisations in Ireland to discuss issues of relevance for the diaspora.

This year, Lithuania will mark the 29th anniversary of the re-establishment of its independence, commemorating the adoption of the Act on the Re-establishment of the State of Lithuania by the Supreme Council – Reconstituent Seimas on 11 March 1990. On this occasion, a lot of festive events will take place in the Seimas and throughout the country to celebrate Lithuania’ liberation from the Soviet occupation, recall the success of the united fight for freedom and share the joy of living in the independent democratic republic cherished by all Lithuanian people.

Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis says he will propose a "rational" solution to Belarus regarding the Astravyets nuclear power plant, which is vehemently criticized by Lithuania, but he gives no details apart from saying that Minsk will not be asked to close the almost-complete facility.
