Energy efficiency
On Monday MEPs debate new EU targets increasing the use of renewables and improving energy efficiency. The vote takes place Tuesday.
In 2030 at least 32% of the EU's energy consumption in 2030 will have to come from renewable sources, such as the sun or wind.
EU’s long-term budget
MEPs will vote Wednesday on the priorities for the EU’s next long-term budget, including sufficient funding for research, the fight against youth unemployment, investment in infrastructure and support for SMEs.
Cheaper calls
On Wednesday MEPs will debate and vote on the telecom package, which aims to cap calls between EU countries at 19 cents and text messages at six cents from 15 May 2019. The rules also aim to boost the investment needed to make 5G connectivity available in European cities by 2020, which would make telecom services much faster.

Future of Europe
German chancellor Angela Merkel will be the latest EU leader to take part in Parliament’s debates on the future of Europe on Tuesday.
Rail passenger rights
MEPs will vote on proposals to offer rail passengers improved rights, similar to those enjoyed by air passengers. This would include doubling the compensation for delayed or cancelled trains.
Humanitarian visas
EU countries should be able to issue humanitarian visas at embassies and consulates abroad, according to proposals to be debated Tuesday.
Romania
The rule of law in Romania is in the spotlight Wednesday, when MEPs vote a resolution about the latest judicial reforms and their impact on the separation of powers in the country.
South Africa
Cyril Ramaphosa, president of South Africa, will address the plenary on Wednesday morning.
