EducationSept. 2nd, 2019, three students of Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) were awarded Dr. Lamers Peace Prizes during the official opening of the MRU academic year ceremony. On Monday, September 2 next to the Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) Santaka Valley students and all the community gathered here to celebrate the beginning of the New Academic Year. On 26-28 September, VMU Agriculture Academy will host the international scientific conference Rural Development 2019: Research and Innovation for Bioeconomy. For the second year in a row, Vilnius University (VU) has granted three Professors with the Distinguished Professor's award. Exceptional Professor’s Status is given for excellence in science and studies. This year, commission decided to dedicate this award to Vladislav Fomin (VU’s Kaunas Faculty), Gediminas Juzeliūnas (VU’s Physics Faculty) and Česlovas Venclovas (VU’s Life Sciences Center). An international web series festival “Seoul Webfest” took place in Seoul on 21-23 August. Every year film artists from all continents participate in this festival. A web series Little Incidents created at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University’s (VGTU) Creative Industries television was part of the official festival’s programme and gained international recognition. This web series was nominated in four categories: Best Editing, Best Concept, Best Sketch Comedy and Best Creator. The author of Little Incidents – Aistė Ptakauskė –won the Best Creator award in this festival. The international team of engineering students from Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) became the 3rd place winners at the European BEST Engineering Competition (EBEC) 2019, which took place in Turin, Italy earlier this month. In the competition, student teams from all over Europe were solving challenges provided by experts from famous technology corporations. Two Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) students – Deividas Čelkys and Tomas Narbuntas – are among the 4 winners of a national competition for an internship at National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Ames Research Center in the USA. The competition is being organised by the Lithuanian Agency for Science, Innovation and Technology MITA annually. Monday, August 26th, 2019, Welcome Week events for MRU International students will kick off and take place all week. Introductory lectures, tours of the campus, ethics, migration info and introduction to e-Services of MRU Library will be some of the events held for the almost 180 Erasmus+ and international students that begin studies at MRU this fall. Vilnius University Council announces a public international Rector’s election at Vilnius University. Candidates may submit their applications from the 19th of August until the 31st of October, 2019. At the beginning of July, the representatives of European Organization for Nuclear Research, known as CERN signed the agreement with Virginijus Sinkevičius, Lithuanian Minister of Economy and Innovation to establish CERN Business Incubation Centre in Lithuania. The Centre will be one-of-a-kind in Middle and Eastern Europe and its two incubators will be located in Kaunas and Vilnius. |
