Group of researchers at Kaunas University of Technology (KTU), Lithuania have designed a field training equipment for short-range air defence systems, which imitates the natural conditions of missile defence including detection, tracking and destruction of the target without actually using the real missile in the training. The solution provides the missing step in the training of air defence officers, who, after training with virtual air defence systems, are still not fit to use real missiles in a field training.

The numbers of educated and highly skilled internationals who choose to work and live in Lithuania is increasing. An interest of international students in studies in Lithuania is also growing and feedback about the quality of studies is very good. This year Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU) welcomed new full-time degree seeking international students from 58 countries, including Egypt, Ecuador, the United Arab Emirates and Kazakhstan. VGTU’s community of international students is expanding; thus, we decided to ask why they have chosen Lithuania, what cultural differences do they notice, and what has surprised them so far.

Earlier this month, the architectural competition for the unique interdisciplinary prototyping laboratory centre Kaunas University of Technology M-Lab took place. The winning project was developed by the architectural studio of Gražina Janulytė-Bernotienė, the author of another Kaunas landmark building, KTU Santaka Valley.

The team of researchers at Kaunas University of Technology (KTU), in collaboration with the Department of Geriatrics at the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU), are developing a system that monitors the health conditions of the elderly. The system consists of several sensors and a controller – a portable device on a neck strap – that automatically calls for help in the time of need.
