KTU WANTed Career Days 2019, the largest career fair in the Baltics, will be organised by the Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) for the 15th time. Last year, over 9 thousand people participated in the event. Representatives from the Faculty of Business Management the lecturer of the Department of Law Raimonda Bubliene and associated professor of the Department of Business Technologies and Entrepreneurship Dr Jolanta Sabaityte participated in the Erasmus + teaching week in University of Kragujevac (Serbia). The Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Law organized teaching activities on October 7-11, 2019. The project “Development of a virtual learning environment in technical higher education” jointly funded by the Erasmus program for 24 months, and includes institutions from four countries: Estonia, Lithuania, Turkey, Poland and Croatia. On 26-28 September 2019, the Faculty of Philology of Vilnius University hosted the fifth International Conference of Applied Linguistics “Languages and People: Communication in a Multilingual World”. The Conference was jointly organised by Faculty’s Institute of Applied Linguistics and the Lithuanian Association of Applied Linguistics (LITAKA). A team of researchers at Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) have developed a novel approach to precision grinding of hard and brittle materials achieving unparalleled efficiency of the process. By experimenting with tungsten carbide they created an innovative technology allowing to shape the extremely strong and yet easily breakable material into a desirable form. The app is also an alternative way of text typing. On 4th October 2019, the founding members of the Alliance4Life gathered at Vilnius University and signed the Memorandum of Understanding, which formalizes the alliance as a permanent structure. The Alliance4Life connects progressive life science institutions from Central and Eastern Europe. The mission of the Alliance4Life shall be to support and strengthen European research excellence and the impact of scientific research on society, human health, and quality of life. The signing of the memorandum is the crown jewel of Alliance4Life´s achievements during the past two years of its existence. It symbolizes the partners’ commitment to make this alliance a long lasting one, for the benefit of the members and the whole region. The scope of robotic process automation and the need for creativity in the market increases rapidly. In this context, the universities face new challenges in education of the young generation that is ready to join the changing job market successfully. In terms of robotic process automation, Lithuania is very similar to other countries and experiences the same problems – development of employees’ competences and requalification of existing talent into robotic process automation. The 14th European Conference on Atoms, Molecules and Photons (ECAMP'14) will be held in Vilnius, bringing together more than 400 scientists from across the continent to Lithuania’s capital. Vilnius was selected to host the conference in 2022, following an application submitted by Vilnius University and Go Vilnius, the city’s tourism and business development agency. |
