EconomyAchemos Grupe, one of the largest business groups in Lithuania, controlled by businesswoman Lyda Lubiene and her daughter, plans to cooperate with Chinese engineering consultancy North China Power Engineering for the implementation of energy projects in Central and Eastern Europe. Lithuania's fertilizer producer Achema, part of Achemos Grupe, one of the largest business groups in Lithuania, is cutting production volumes and halting part of its equipment due to high gas prices and low product prices. Statistics Lithuania informs that, based on non-final data obtained from customs declarations, Intrastat reporting and VAT returns data, exports in April 2018 amounted to EUR 2.07 billion, imports – EUR 2.33 billion. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin amounted to EUR 1.18 billion. The foreign trade deficit of Lithuania amounted to EUR 0.26 billion. Statistics Lithuania informs that in May 2018, against April, prices for consumer goods and services increased by 0.4%. This was mainly influenced by an increase in prices for fuels, footwear, maintenance and repair of personal transport equipment, pharmaceuticals, as well as by a decrease in prices for heat energy, waste collection services, fruit and spirits. Lithuania's oil product and liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals operator Klaipedos Nafta (Klaipeda Oil) said on Thursday that its total revenue for January through May edged up by 0.5% to 44.2 million euros, from 44 million euros in the same period last year. Magna, one of the largest automotive parts manufacturers and suppliers in the US and Europe has recently begun their selection process of potential partners in Lithuania. There are dozens of companies on their prospective list. The chief executive officer of Palink, the owner of Iki, says that the company plans to bring to life all of its frozen projects and pursue further growth in the Lithuanian market after its failed takeover by Rimi, another major retail chain. In 2017, Lithuanian Airports enjoyed record numbers of passengers and this year they will submit the largest contribution to the state budget in the company’s history. It amounts to 3.4 million EUR, which is 1.7 million EUR more compared to the year before. Lithuanian Economy Minister Virginijus Sinkevicius, currently in China, says he will try to attract more of Chinese investments as the inflow of direct investments from Chinas has the potential to grow.
