EconomyStatistics Lithuania informs that in September 2018, based on provisional data, industrial production totalled EUR 1.9 bln at current prices and, compared to August, seasonally and calendar adjusted, decreased by 3.3% at constant prices (unadjusted – by 5.7%). Analysts at the Scandinavian financial group SEB stick to their forecasts for Lithuania's GDP growth, but note that the country's economic growth will decelerate in the next two years. A Vilnius court has allowed Lithuania's state-run railway company Lietuvos Gelezinkeliai (Lithuanian Railways) to resume a tender, worth around 250 mln euros, for the electrification of the Vilnius rail junction and of a railway section between Kaisiadorys and Klaipeda. Lithuania's telecoms company Telia Lietuva posted 41.197 mln euros in consolidated net profits for the three quarters of 2018, up 14.8% from 35.878 mln euros a year ago. The arrival of the Bahamian-flagged Marco Polo in Klaipeda on Friday wrapped up the Lithuanian port's cruise season. Lietuvos Gelezinkeliai (Lithuanian Railways) posted 338.7 mln euros in revenue for January through September 2018, up 5.2% from 322 mln euros a year ago. Klaipedos Konteineriu Terminalas (Klaipeda Container Terminal, or KKT) and Klaipedos Smelte are setting new container handling records this year. New car sales in Lithuania this year continue to grow at one of the fastest rates in the European Union, the latest figures from the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) show. Kesko Senukai Digital, a company which belongs to the Finish Kesko concern group, closed the transaction in which it acquired 100 % of the shares of the online retail market group 1A and became one of the leading e-commerce platform operators in the Baltic countries. The Bank of Lithuania raised on Thursday its GDP growth forecast for this year to 3.4%, from 3.2 % previously, and revised up its projection for 2019 to 2.8%, from 2.7%. |
