"Bilateral economic cooperation still has the potential to grow, especially in the area of direct foreign investments. Last year, Lithuanian companies invested in China 6 times more than Chinese companies invested in Lithuania. Therefore, the next step is to attract to Lithuania Chinese investors who are already looking in the direction of our region," Sinkevicius was quoted as saying in a statement issued by the Ministry of Economy.
Later this week, the minister will attend the 16+1 forum of Central and Eastern European countries and China and also plans to meet with potential investors.
China is interested in investments into the area of financial technologies as well as into the Port of Klaipeda where China Merchants Group would like to invest into a container terminal.
Lithuania's direct investments in China totalled 24.31 million euros last year and China invested 3.96 million euros over the same period, figures from the Ministry of Economy show.
