On Thursday, President Gitanas Nausėda met with President Andrzej Duda of Poland at the Lithuanian-Polish border in the Suwałki Gap.

On behalf of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania and on her own behalf, Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, Speaker of the Seimas, congratulated Yaël Braun-Pivet on becoming President of the National Assembly of the French Republic and wished her success and smooth and creative work in the performance of the responsible duties, as well as commitment to attaining the set goals and creating and fostering the wellbeing of the country.

On 29-30 June, President Gitanas Nausėda will participate in the NATO Summit in Madrid, Spain, to discuss with the leaders of the Alliance the threats posed by Russia’s aggression and the response to them. NATO leaders will also discuss and adopt the Alliance’s new Strategic Concept.

As he continues his working visit to Brussels, President Gitanas Nausėda attended a meeting of euro area leaders on Friday.

President Gitanas Nausėda has started his working visit to Brussels, where the European Council is convening on 23–24 June. On Thursday morning, the President participated in EU- Western Balkans summit.

On Tuesday, President Gitanas Nausėda participated remotely in a preparatory European Council meeting with the President of the European Council, Charles Michel.

On 21 June, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis met with the Ambassador of Nigeria to Lithuania Shina Fatai Alege. During the meeting, the Foreign Minister and the Nigerian Ambassador discussed important issues of bilateral cooperation, as well as ways to further develop economic cooperation and trade relations with the largest African economy.

On Tuesday, President Gitanas Nausėda had a telephone conversation with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine. The Presidents of Lithuania and Ukraine discussed the course of the Russian war in Ukraine, the need for military assistance, and the granting of EU candidate country status to Ukraine.

On Friday, President Gitanas Nausėda received letters of credence from Ambassador Mohamed Karim Fouad Sherif of Egypt, Ambassador DaifAllah Alfayez of Jordan, and Ambassador Chandapiwa Nteta of Botswana.

On 14 June, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Mantas Adomėnas conferred the award of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Lithuania’s Diplomacy Star – on the outgoing Special Envoy for Belarus of the United States in Lithuania Julie Fisher.
