At the meeting, the Gitanas Nausėda pointed out that Lithuania took an interest in the development of economic cooperation with Singapore and this year opened an embassy in the country with the aim to contribute to this goal. According to the President, the two countries could cooperate more actively in the fields of laser technologies, life sciences, energy, financial technologies, e-government and cyber security. The two countries could be each other’s gateways to new markets in Asia and Europe, Gitanas Nausėda noted.
“Lithuania has accumulated considerable and truly valuable international experience in developing LNG projects. Our companies are currently managing projects in South Africa, Germany and other countries. We are ready to share best practices and cooperate with Singapore in the energy sector,” the President said.
Gitanas Nausėda also invited Singaporean companies to participate in Life Science Baltics 2023 conference in Vilnius.
During the meeting, the Lithuanian and Singaporean leaders also discussed regional security issues. President Gitanas Nausėda highlighted three priorities for the international community to focus on at the moment, such as stepping up support for Ukraine, rebuilding its destroyed energy infrastructure, and tightening sanctions against Russia.
