On the sidelines of this year's annual Ukraine Reconstruction Conference in Berlin, Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė met with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte. The Heads of Government meeting focused on support for Ukraine, the response to Russia's hybrid aggression, the forthcoming NATO Summit in Washington, and matters concerning the European Union.

On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania, Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė sincerely congratulated Shri Narendra Modi who was re-appointment as the Prime Minister of lndia.

On Friday, Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė delivered opening remarks at the international conference: Towards the recovery of the culture sector of Ukraine, in Vilnius. The conference is held by Lithuania in cooperation with Ukraine and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

In response to the severe floods in Armenia and an international appeal by the Government of Armenia, Lithuania will contribute EUR 100,000 to the humanitarian response to the natural disaster.

The Cabinet of Ministers, on Wednesday, has approved two new bilateral assistance initiatives for Ukraine: the reconstruction of a school in Zelenyi Hai (Shevchenkivska municipality, Mykolayiv region) and the rehabilitation and reintegration programme for those wounded and war-affected in Ukraine.

On 3 June in Vilnius, Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gabrielius Landsbergis, met with Stefano Pontecorvo, President of the Italian defence industry company Leonardo. The meeting focused on the development of the defence industry in Lithuania, innovations in defence technologies and opportunities for cooperation with Lithuanian defence industry companies.

On May 31-June 1 Minister of National Defence Laurynas Kasčiūnas took part in Shangri-la Dialogue 2024, the premier security forum of the Indo-Pacific, in Singapore. This year the summit focused on armed conflicts across other regions, the war in Ukraine and development of measures for risk mitigation, besides the security environment in the Indo-Pacific.

On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania, Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė warmly greeted Andrej Plenković on his reappointment as Prime Minister of Croatia and wished him success in building the future of wellbeing for the people.

On May 21–23 Ministers of Defence and defence policy directors of the Baltic states and the Northern Group will attend meetings in Palanga to discuss relevant security and defence issues, assistance to Ukraine, NATO and EU agendas, the current status of ongoing trilateral and multilateral projects and the way forward.

On May 15, the Government of Lithuania approved the Strategic Guidelines for Lithuania’s relations with the United States of America (USA) drafted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The document mainly aims to provide a perspective for strengthening the strategic partnership between Lithuania and the United States under changing conditions and propose concrete implementation measures.
