MEPs will debate the latest developments in Ukraine and EU-Russia relations on Tuesday morning, before Parliament is set to debate and vote the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement, including its free trade component, into law, at noon. The vote in the Ukrainian parliament (Verkhovna Rada), is scheduled at the same time in Kiev.

In Wales, President Dalia Grybauskaitė together with other NATO leaders have agreed on new concrete measures to duly respond to new challenges and threats posed to the Alliance member states. The President underlined that these decisions ensured greater security for Lithuania.

The Fire and Rescue Department under the Ministry of the Interior in Lithuania is preparing one more shipment of humanitarian aid to the people of Ukraine as instructed by the Government.

Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaitė met with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko at the summit meeting of EU leaders in Brussels and expressed Lithuania's support for the European reforms implemented in Ukraine, to its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

In a very frank exchange of views, the President of the Commission expressed his deep concern with the current events and the situation on the ground in Ukraine. These are in complete contradiction with the efforts made by the European Union to bring about diplomatic and pragmatic solutions to issues such as the implementation of the AA/DCFTA (Association Agreement/Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement) and energy relations between Russia and Ukraine.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevicius in the meetings in Kyiv on 22 August with President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and Foreign Affairs Minister Pavlo Klimkin discussed the support to Ukraine and coordination of diplomatic efforts in the run-up to the summit meetings of the European Union, NATO and the United Nations.
