The European Union and Uzbekistan held the eighth round of their Human Rights Dialogue in Brussels on 18 November 2014, as part of the 11th meeting of the Subcommittee on Justice and Home Affairs, Human Rights and related issues. The Uzbek delegation was led by Mr Nigmatilla Yuldashev, Minister for Justice, who was accompanied by Mr Akmal Saidov, Director of the National Centre for Human Rights, and other senior officials. The EU delegation was led by Mr Silvio Gonzato, Director for Human Rights and Democracy at the European External Action Service.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania strongly condemns a terrorist attack of 18 November in a synagogue in Jerusalem's neighbourhood of Har Nof. Ministry offers its heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, their relatives and all the people of Israel.

On 17 November in Brussels, the EU's Foreign Affairs Council meeting addressed the situation in Ukraine. The Ministers discussed the tense security situation in eastern Ukraine, raised the question of extending the EU sanctions on Russia and called for the immediate implementation of internal reforms in Ukraine.

On 14 November 2014, the joint meeting of the Seimas Committees on European Affairs and Foreign Affairs adopted a Decision on the Fundamental Principles of the Position of the Republic of Lithuania on Ukraine and Lithuania's Support Measures for Ukraine.

On 14 November, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania allocated 175 thousand litas in humanitarian assistance to the residents of eastern Ukraine who have been affected by Russia's aggression against Ukraine. The funds will be transferred to the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR), which provides emergency humanitarian assistance to the forcibly displaced people and the people who have lost their place of residence in Ukraine.

We are deeply concerned about the Ebola outbreak in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone and saddened by the suffering and loss of life it is inflicting. We are mindful of the serious humanitarian, social and economic impacts on those countries, and of the potential for these impacts to spread.

MEPs condemned Turkey's "maritime survey" activities as encroaching upon the Republic of Cyprus' exclusive economic zone and its sovereign right to explore the natural resources within it, in a resolution voted on Thursday. The text also calls on Turkey to stop its "provocative actions" and "threats" against the Republic of Cyprus.

President Dalia Grybauskaitė attended NATO military exercise Iron Sword 2014 at the General Silvestras Žukauskas Training Area. The event involves more than 2.5 thousand troops and 300 military vehicles from 9 NATO member states. It is one of the largest military exercises in Lithuania this year.

President Dalia Grybauskaitė extended congratulations to Polish President Bronisław Komorowski and to the people of Poland on Independence Day.

Last week the Today in President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė received the prize 'Goldene Victoria' in Berlin. All three Baltic states were awarded for nurturing the idea of peaceful struggle for freedom and faith in the future of Europe.
