The European Parliament fully supports current efforts to resolve the Cyprus issue, President Martin Schulz said on Wednesday on an official visit to the country, adding that a window of opportunity now exists for a historic step forward for Cyprus and the wider region. At the end of his two-day visit to the island on 29-30 March, the President said Cyprus could become a "message of hope" for all of Europe and promised that Parliament would stand by the country in a post-settlement era. On behalf of the Lithuanian people and on her own behalf, President Dalia Grybauskaitė extended deep condolences to President Mamnoon Hussain of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan over the terror attack in Lahore that killed dozens of victims and left many more injured. "The attack today (on 27 March - L24.lt) in the centre of the Pakistani city of Lahore decimated peaceful families, many of them Christian, taking indiscriminately its toll among women and children. Our thoughts go out to the families and friends of the victims and to the many injured. Lithuania’s Foreign Ministry holds presentation of Madagascar on International Francophonie Day2016-03-27, 16:44On 24 March, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania celebrated the International Francophonie Day. A meeting with the Chargé d'Affaires a.i., Deputy Permanent Delegate of Madagascar to UNESCO Ny Toky Andriamanjato was held on this occasion. The participants of the event had an opportunity to acquaint themselves with Madagascar's political situation, development prospects, history and culture. |
