On 6 May, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius had a telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Vladimir Makei, and discussed information about the receipt of nuclear fuel at the Ostrovets nuclear power plant (NPP) that had been published in Belarus. The telephone conversation took place on the initiative of L. Linkevičius.

President Gitanas Nausėda had a telephone call with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg to discuss the dynamics of the COVID-19 crisis and its consequences for the Lithuanian and Allied security environment, national and international security and defense agendas, as well as relations with the neighboring countries.

The Lithuanian government on Wednesday extended the nationwide coronavirus lockdown until May 31, but gave the go-ahead for the easing of restrictions on movement to Lithuania from foreign countries, starting from May 11.

On 29 April, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius took part in a teleconference of the Foreign Ministers of the Baltic states and discussed the possibility to relax the quarantine regime in a coordinated manner, as well as to gradually facilitate travel conditions for citizens.

The Government has taken a decision to further ease the lockdown restrictions following the recommendations by the Ministry of Health. This will relax restrictions on leisure activities, departure from the country (as of 4 May) and it will allow health care providers to resume services.
