On 16 December 2015, the Seimas Committee on Foreign Affairs held a closed meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Linas Linkevičius, to discuss the current situation and the prospects of the EU-Russia relations and Lithuania's position on the issue.

President Dalia Grybauskaitė met with British Prime Minister David Cameron ahead of the European Council. The meeting was held on the initiative of the British Prime Minister.

The Commission's recent proposals for completing European Monetary Union (EMU) are insufficient to address the current shortcomings in the institutional framework of the euro area. More parliamentary oversight and public debate is needed to ensure democratic accountability and get citizens on board, Parliament says in a resolution adopted on Thursday.

Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius chaired the meeting of the Primer Ministers of the Baltic Council of Ministers (BCM) on Monday, which was also attended by Latvian Prime Minister Laimduota Straujuma and Estonian Head of Government Taavi Roivas.

The Prime Minister of Estonia Mr. Taavi Rõivas, the Prime Minister of Latvia Mrs. Laimdota Straujuma and the Prime Minister of Lithuania Mr. Algirdas Butkevičius met within the framework of the Baltic Council of Ministers on 14 December 2015 in Vilnius, Lithuania. The Prime Ministers discussed the key issues of the Baltic cooperation and reviewed the progress of implementing the priorities as set by Lithuania for the chairmanship in the Baltic Council of Ministers. The priorities for 2015 were enhancing the regional, energy and information security as well as implementing joint energy and transportation infrastructure projects.

On 9 December 2015, the Ministry of Finance informed the Committee on European Affairs of the use of EU investment funds for 2007–2013 and the strategy on the use of the funds for 2014–2020.

Lithuania has transferred 150,000 euros to the Migrant and Refugee Fund of Council of Europe's Development Bank.

The Lithuanian Seimas [parliament] on December 10th passed the state's budget for 2016, which provides for increases in the minimum monthly wage, non-taxable income and pensions, by a vote of 76 to 34 with 14 abstentions.

On December 14 Minister of National Defence of Lithuania Juozas Olekas will meet with Minister of Defence of Latvia Hannes Hanso and acting Minister of Defence of Latvia Raimonds in Vilnius.
