110 years ago, the Adam Mickiewicz Museum was established on Bernardinų Street. To commemorate its long life, the museum belonging to Vilnius University organizes events and invites visitors to get acquainted not only with the backstage of the poet’s life and work but also with the very colorful history of the museum.

Today, the QS WUR announced the results of the QS Graduate Employability Rankings. In the Rankings, Kaunas University of Technology is ranked alongside the just over half a thousand of best universities in the world. The quality of cooperation between the students and employers is especially highly ranked – according to this criterion, KTU is the 181st this year.

However, looking at plants from a futuristic perspective, we could discover limitless possibilities for new applications and research, according to a scientist at Vilnius University Life Sciences Centre (VU LSC) Dr Radvilė Rimgailė-Voicik. On the VU podcast Mokslas be pamokslų, the scientists talked about how plants could help detect bombs and even the bodies of missing people if they were researched more.

The Vilnius University (VU) launched the VU Red Hat Academy in September. It is a web-operated open-code online educational programme designed to provide academic institutions with access to and to maintain an open-code and Linux-based educational programme. In connection with the new VU Red Hat Academy, a cooperation memorandum has been signed with AB Telia Lietuva.

On Monday, 20 September, EU Commissioner Mariya Gabriel opened the ECIU University Extended Reality (XR) Campus. The opening was streamed to YouTube. “It is a great example of what we can accomplish when we pool resources,” said Commissioner Gabriel. Via the Campus, learners have an environment to continue learning and have people interacting with each other, even at a distance.

A team of researchers from Kaunas University of Technology (KTU), Lithuania and the University of Helsinki have proposed an extremely nutritious meat analogue using fermented okara (soy press cake). The innovation developed by the Lithuanian scientists can change the meat analogue industry offering a product that has less salt and saturated fats and more flavour than real meat.

The Agency for Science, Innovation and Technology (MITA) invites startup teams and those with innovative ideas to register for the fourth cohort of the “TechHub” pre-accelerator. During the program selected startups will participate in a three-month training course, in which they will develop their ideas, meet investors and business angels, gain business development knowledge, find new team members and receive services worth 25,000 Eur. The application process will end in September 26th.

From 5th to 7th October 2021, Vilnius University (VU) will host the 2021 Annual Conference of the Arqus European University Alliance. Key executives, rectors of Alliance universities, international experts in higher education and research, and representatives of EU higher education policy will gather in Vilnius for the first in-person event of this kind. VU Rector Prof. Rimvydas Petrauskas is pleased to invite the guests to discuss the Alliance’s achievements and future perspectives at VU, where the President of France Emmanuel Macron, the author of the idea of European university integration, was recently awarded an honorary doctorate.

Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) has signed a cooperation agreement with the world’s leading travel meta-search company KAYAK. The agreement aims to ensure closer communication between the University and KAYAK Lithuania, one of the most important technological centres.
