EducationCentre for Asian Studies starts a new cycle of events under the title “Time for Asia”. The first event will take place on the 24th of October, at 11:15, in Daukanto str. 52-322. The first presenter will be Professor from Tokyo University, Dr Tomoko Ako, holding a lecture under the title „Is China on the Cusp of a Middle-Class Revolt?“. President Dalia Grybauskaitė, who is currently on an official visit in Finland, visited Aalto University where she met with the university’s President Tuula Teeri, Lithuanians studying there, and viewed design and startup laboratories. Aalto University was established in 2010 by merging three uncompetitive institutions into one. After the merger, the university emerged as a leader on a global scale. The Centre for Asian Studies is inviting scholars and the general public to an international academic conference “Travel and Mutual Understanding: East Asia, Europe and Beyond“ that will be held October 20-21 in Kaunas, Lithuania at VMU Small Hall (Daukanto st. 28, 2nd floor). For KTU Students and Researchers – Seminars on Nuclear Engineering from Japanese Experts2016-10-16, 18:4721–22 November the 7th part of intensive Nuclear Engineering Course will take place at KTU Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. The course is being organised by Tokyo Technology Institute (TTI) and Hitachi with Kaunas University of Technology (KTU). On 6 October, Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) held an official ceremony opening the new VMU Centre for Research and Studies (23 V. Putvinskio Street), a modern, multifunctional centre which is open to the entire academic community, researchers and innovators, world Lithuanians, and the public at large. The ceremony was followed by the first event hosted by the Centre: the Forum on Science and Innovation, Social Code. The Head of VGTU Engineering Graphics Department dr. Daiva Makuteniene was giving lectures for the students of Masuda Summer School at the Engineering Faculty of Kobe University in September. “I keep getting phone calls from various companies asking if I am still looking for a job. I chose my current position from three offers, and I am sure that there is no lack of jobs for students in engineering and technical fields in Lithuania”, says biomedical engineer Basant Kumar Bajpai from India. Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) graduate, and (from this autumn) a PhD student has been living in Kaunas for three years. The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers a wide range of scholarships for students, graduates, doctoral candidates, scientists and university teachers from Lithuania. The European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) – the largest and most advanced scientific institution in the world – has invited Lithuania to start membership negotiations. An official report with a draft accession agreement has been issued by the CERN Council describing Lithuania’s progress in science and innovation as positive. |
