On 9 November, a delegation representing Lithuania’s Laser and Engineering Technologies cluster (LITEK), Lithuanian Laser Association and Lithuanian laser companies visited the Headquarters of Airbus DS Optronics (Pty) Ltd. in Irene, South Africa. During the meeting, the structure of Lithuanian laser community, capabilities and products of the represented companies – Eksma, Optolita (EKSMA Optics), Ekspla, ELAS, Lidaris, and Quantum Light Instruments – were presented and prospects for further cooperation were discussed.

He emphasizes the consolidation of strong institutions of higher education as a way to enhance study and research quality. However, the goal demands the commitment on governmental level.

Engineers of VGTU “LinkMenų fabrikas“ together with telecommunication company “Tele2” developed a unique vehicle control system based on the Internet speed. The system allows a vehicle to drive at the speed of the 4G Internet in that area: megabits per second are converted into kilometres per hour.

The European University Association (EUA) expresses its support for the higher education community in Turkey following the further infringements on university autonomy and academic freedom reflected in two new decrees (675 and 676) published in the Turkish Official Journal on 29 October 2016.

VMU International Office has announced competition for bilateral exchange studies in Japan in spring semester 2016/2017. On 11 October 2016, government officials in the UK announced that EU students applying for entrance into an English higher education institution for the 2017-2018 academic year will continue to be eligible for student loans and grants for the duration of their degree course. This means that EU students will be able to access the same funding they are entitled to now. Officials also stressed that the arrangement will be valid even if the UK exits the Union during the coursework period, said European University Association and Universities UK representatives.
