EducationLast week Kaunas University of Technology Erasmus Student Network (ESN KTU) organised the Farewell Gala for the KTU exchange students, who have spent this semester studying at KTU. Farewell Gala: Rock 'n' Roll Edition featured Erasmus Awards, and was attended by a happy crowd of international and local students. These days Nano/Micro-technologies have very wide application: from everyday clothing to, not yet widely used, 3D printers. Currently, prof. Ran Liu, a well-known professional from this widely applicable scientific area, is visiting Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU). The professor represents Fudan University in Shanghai, China, which ranks 43rd in the QS World University Rankings. “There is a lack of motivation in our younger generation with regards to social activities and commitment towards the needy”, says Titty Varghese, the leader of the Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) Women Leadership Network (WLN). In order to connect with colleagues, the representatives of the KTU WLN participated in the conference organised by Vilnius Women House. Laser Weapon Training Systems Created at KTU Awarded Lithuanian Product of the Year 20162016-12-20, 18:22The name of Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) was on the top of the winners list of the Lithuanian Product of the Year 2016 Awards. The gold medal was awarded to the laser weapon training systems developed at the KTU Institute of Defence Technologies. The Awards are being organised by the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists. Juozas Augutis, the rector of the Vytautas Magnus University, was on Friday elected to head the Lithuanian University Rectors' Conference, an association consisting of the top officials of the country's universities. 62 percent of Lithuanians older than 55 live alone, and 32 percent of home units in Lithuania consist of one person. Although being alone doesn’t mean being lonely, and loneliness itself has many shades and reasons, being lonely, especially in holiday season may be upsetting for some people. After graduation from Master degree programme “Diplomacy and International Relations” at Vytautas Magnus University (VMU), Daviti Mtchedlishvili from Georgia was accepted as a PhD researcher in New Zealand. Currently D. Mtchedlishvili is working at a multi-disciplinary centre that brings together graduates and academics from a wide range of disciplines to research the European Union and Europe-related issues. “Studying at VMU was one of the major transition periods for me, involving new experiences and new skills. VMU was a great opportunity for learning and personal growth and it has had a very big impact on me and my future endeavors“, – says VMU Alumni. More than 830 events in 30 European countries were organised during the European Robotics Week in the end of November. Kaunas University of Technology Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (KTU EEF) has joined the initiative by inviting Kaunas regional community to visit KTU EEF robotics laboratories. On 21-25 November prof. dr. Saulius Vasarevičius, Head of Department of Environmental Protection at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU) visited University of Technology in Malaysia (UTM), where he delivered classes on environmental policy and participated in a scientific conference. Start-up Holtida created by the team of researchers of Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) Institute of Materials Science, headed by the Institute’s Director professor Sigitas Tamulevičius, has been named The Spinn Off of the Year in the annual BZN start Startup Awards 2016. Holtida was named as one of the ten best Lithuanian start-ups. |
