The European Union (EU), seeking to use the largest possible number of renewable energy sources and thus reduce the dependence on fossil fuel, creates more sustainable energy production. His Excellency Mr Toyoei Shigeeda, Japanese Ambassador in Lithuania visited Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) last week. “The world needs leadership, on both sides of the Atlantic”, boldly stated Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius. While greeting the 94th edition of the Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) graduates, Linkevičius proudly reminded the audience that he is a KTU alumni. Recently, Vytautas Magnus University was proposed to establish Global Japan Office, which is to be coordinated by Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (TUFS). This is to become the first centre of this kind in North East Europe. Parliament and Council negotiators agreed on wholesale price caps on Tuesday evening. The total number of new international exchange students this academic year is also at an all-time high: 505 international students have chosen VGTU as a destination for their exchange time abroad. “When faced with problems of the elderly in our closest family, it is us who experience major stress, not them”, says Egidijus Kazanavicius, Professor at Kaunas University of Technology (KTU), Director at the Centre of Real Time Computer Systems. Kazanavicius is heading the team of researchers from KTU and Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU), who are developing the monitoring system for seniors: upon registering a fall of a person, the system sends a notification to the carers.
