EducationEducation Exchanges Support Foundation is offering scholarships for students, lecturers and researchers of foreign countries for Lithuanian Language and Culture Summer Course 2017. The summer course at Vytautas Magnus University will take place on 14 July – 12 August, 2017. Unique invention “Innovative research system for peripheral vestibular function testing creation – INTVEST” created by Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) and Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU) is aiming to be patented. It is expected that the innovative device, which was firstly introduced at the annual KTU innovation fair “Technorama 2016” will hit the market soon. Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) together with Kauno Kolegija University of Applied Sciences, Kaunas University of Applied Engineering Sciences, Klaipėda State University of Applied Sciences, Panevėžys University of Applied Sciences and Vilnius College of Technologies and Design has joined forces to foster talents in technology and engineering – on 15 March the protocol of intentions to create a higher education cluster in technology and engineering studies has been signed at the Lithuanian Ministry of Education and Science. The 3rd annual conference ‘Contemporary Political Processes: Challenges and Opportunities’ will take place on 27th April, 2017, during “Faculty days” event. The results of international university ranking QS World University Rankings by Subject 2017 were announced on 9th March. This ranking evaluates and compares universities by subjects and subject areas. This year only three Lithuanian universities are ranked in this ranking. March 30th (Thursday) at 01:40 PM at the VMU Faculty of Social Sciences (Jonavos st. 66) VMU students are invited to attend the public lecture „The Dynamics of Religious Change: Deliberate and Forced“.(23-413 V. Putvinskio Street) VMU students are invited to attend the public lecture “Religion and State in Denmark – Sociological Perspectives” with Professor Margit Warburg from University of Copenhagen. On 10th March, Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship Dimitris Avramopoulos, accompanied by the Maltese Minister for Home Affairs and National Security, Mr Carmelo Abela representing the Presidency of the Council of the EU, and the Estonian Minister of the Interior, Mr Andres Anvelt, representing the incoming Presidency of the Council of the EU, as well as the EU Counter-Terrorism Coordinator, Mr Gilles de Kerchove, are meeting key internet companies in the United States, in San Francisco and Silicon Valley. The visit was organised to follow up on the second meeting of the EU Internet Forum in December 2016 and to take forward actions agreed for 2017. KTU researchers are creating biodegradable food packaging materials, which, in addition, will also keep food fresh for longer. This innovation would solve two problems at once: assist in cutting down packaging waste and in reducing the number of food-borne illnesses. Lithuanian laser manufacturers Ekspla and Sviesos Konversija (Light Conversion) have produced Sylos, a 4-million-euro laser system that is the first of its kind in Lithuania and one of the most powerful ones in the world. On the 23rd of February Study Abroad Fair, organised by the Department of Internationalisation, took a place at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture. |
