On 31 March, taking into account quarantine conditions and restricted movement between municipalities due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and on the basis of the Ministry of Transport and Communications proposition, the Government extended the spiked winter tyres usage period until 10 May.

This week, the Lithuanian Airports’ operator has completed the installation of a new airport management system designed to enhance the passenger experience, increase operational efficiency, and modernize airport operations management. The system’s most visible element comes in the form of hundreds of flight information displays located at the airports. Whether passengers are looking for their check-in counter, boarding gate, or baggage belt – the information displayed arrives via this system.

The Seimas has adopted the Law on Alternative Fuels (draft No XIIIP-5137(3)) aimed at creating opportunities for a significant (up to 15 %) increase of the share of renewable energy resources (RES) in the transport sector by 2030, thus reducing the negative impact on climate and air pollution.

At a meeting of the International Energy Agency (IEA) Standing Group on Long-Term Cooperation, representatives of the IEA Secretariat, IEA member countries and the Lithuanian Ministry of Energy discussed the report on Lithuania’s energy policy that is near completion. This was the last meeting with Lithuanian representatives on this report before its public presentation and the decision of the IEA Governing Board on whether to invite Lithuania to join the IEA.
