Abukevičius says2021-02-24, 14:18Key priorities of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania for cyber security are the following: to ensure effectively cyber security of critical information resources managers, to strengthen the resilience of cyberspace, to prevent the spread of technologies from unreliable manufacturers, and to complete the consolidation of national cyber capabilities. The priorities were presented on February 19 by Vice Minister of National Defence Margiris Abukevičius in a remote meeting of the Cyber Security Council of Lithuania. On 10 November 2020, the Parliament, Council and Commission approved plans establishing the EU's space programme for 2021-27 and the European Union Agency for the Space Programme. Parliament will vote on the €14.8 billion space programme in March 2021. IThe programme brings all space-related activities together and covers Galileo, Copernicus and Space Situational Awareness. EU doubles contribution to COVAX to €1 billion to ensure safe and effective vaccines for low and middle-income countries2021-02-20, 09:42The European Union has announced today an additional €500 million for the COVAX Facility, doubling its contribution to date for the global initiative that is leading efforts to secure fair and equitable access to safe and effective COVID-19 vaccines in low and middle-income countries. The new European bio-defence preparedness plan against COVID-19 variants called “HERA Incubator” will work with researchers, biotech companies, manufacturers and public authorities in the EU and globally to detect new variants, provide incentives to develop new and adapted vaccines, speed up the approval process for these vaccines, and ensure scaling up of manufacturing capacities. The actual data shows that at the beginning of this year, with the start of the commercial operation of the Belarusian nuclear power plant, the physical flow of electricity produced in Belarus increased significantly. At the same time, more than three times increased trade on the Latvian-Russian border confirms that electricity produced in an unsafe power plant finds the way to enter the Lithuanian market as well as the EU market.
