SocietyA team from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have praised Lithuania for its active engagement in strengthening the global nuclear safety regime, transparent and open cooperation with experts, and participation in international support programs. During the first quarter of the year Lithuanian airports handled 17% more passengers compared to the same period last year. In January, February and March 914,000 passengers travelled through Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga airports. The passenger traffic showed a nearly identical growth in all three Lithuanian airports. Ways to unleash the full potential of the single market to the benefit of consumers, employees and businesses, in particular start-ups, are proposed in a report voted by Internal Market Committee MEPs on Thursday. Priorities include eliminating unjustified barriers to trade, helping SMEs and start-ups to scale up their activities, reforming VAT rules, developing legislative tools to foster the sharing economy and building a strong culture of compliance and enforcement. |
